The concept of Taijitu
What do you believe in?
I am not a follower of any religion, belief, or anything similar nor I want to present the concept of Taijitu as something that is 100% true.
However, I always seek the good in everything, even when it does not seem to exist. That is my life policy and that is why I decided to write about Taijitu, an ancient, simple symbol that explains bigger meaning far more than we probably realize. The fact is, there are moments when we feel so uplifted thinking we are about to fly. From the other side, there are moments when we feel so devastated, that seems to us we could die.
But, perhaps there is a little more to it all, then it meets the eye.⠀⠀
NOW, WHAT IS TAIJITU?⠀
Taijitu is an ancient Chinese symbol, known in the Western world as YIN YANG.☯
WHAT TAIJITU REPRESENTS?⠀
Taijitu is the universal symbol of the religion known as Taoism and is also often used by non-Taoists to represent the concept of opposites existing in one great harmony. ⠀
We also can say that this symbol is representing contradictions.
- You cry to be happy.
- You move slowly to be able to move fast.
- You experience the night to experience day.
- You fall to be able to get up.
- You feel cold to feel warm.
- You taste bitter to know what sweet tastes like.
- You hear the noise to be able of enjoying in silence.
- You feel weak to feel strong.
- You lose to win.
Nothing is black or white. There is a bit of both in everything — ALWAYS.
THE SYMBOL⠀
This simple yet effective symbol is composed of a circle evenly divided by a wavy “S” line into two fish shapes embracing and complementing each other. The white in the symbol represents the active principle of reality or better to say — yang energy, while the black represents the passive principle — yin energy.⠀
⠀
MY PERSPECTIVE OF TAIJITU⠀
It appears to me if we are focused only on good things — we are allowing ourselves to end up disappointed and eventually — hurt. On the contrary, if we are focused only on bad things in everything that is going on around us and seeing exclusively negative, we end up being unsatisfied with life.⠀
If you ask me, the balance is the key to everything; balance is what keeps us sane.
Perhaps we are closer to understanding when we are closer to the sun. ⠀
Perhaps…⠀
